About Miao

Located around 25 kms. away from Assam border, Miao is a sub-division of Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh. It is considered to be a region in north east where one can witness one of the heaviest rainfalls in the entire of north east. Miao is surrounded by rivers and hills with the eastern extension of the Himalayas and the river Nai Dihing passing through it.

About Miao


It is a small town which also covers the two other towns Diyun and Chowkham with Chowkham having a majestic production of plywood such that it was once the richest village in all of Asia. Well connected by roads and with a proper transport system, Miao is getting a very good amount of exposure to the sector of tourism. The percentage of literacy of the town is quite low however in comparison to that; the use of spunky cars here by the people is quite a lot. The exact geographical location of Miao is 27.49°N 96.20°E.

Miao town produces a large number of plywood which is also transported outside the town. Agriculture is also a very common source of income for the people here, though a lot of people here rely on government jobs for a living.

Located just beside the bank of river Noa-Dehing, Miao is a town which is the headquarters of sub division of Miao in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The third largest park in India in terms of area is in Miao, Arunachal Pradesh. The Namdapha National Park has an area of 1985 sq. kms. the park is home to many wild animals and birds. Just 4 kms. away from Miao township, the Tibetan settlement camp is another place which is worth visiting here. The place is a tourist spot due to the fact it is one of the oldest settlements for Tibetan refugees. The camp is famous for its flawless carpets which are of excellent quality. The carpets weaved here are famous not only here but at a global market. A major attraction of the camp is a monastery lying in the midst of the camp. The camp is one of the 45 settlements in India and 75 around the world.
